British Court of Law Findings

• In terms of warming effect, water vapor is the dominant greenhouse gas at up to 60-70% of the greenhouse effect (that is why dry deserts are very cold at night and humid regions are not). CO2 is second at only 20-30% of the greenhouse effect.

• Antarctic ice shows temperature leading CO2 as shown by at least three careful studies. A cause cannot lead the effect

Sea Level: . . .that sea level rises of 7 metres . . .in the immediate future, is not in line with the scientific consensus.

Mr Gore states ". . .Pacific nations have all had to evacuate. . .". There is no evidence of any such evacuation . . .

Ocean Conveyer:  According to the IPCC, it is very unlikely that the Ocean Conveyor . . .will shut down in the future. . .

CO2 & Temperature: Mr Gore shows two graphs relating to a period of 650,000 years, . . .the two graphs do not establish what Mr Gore asserts.

The snows of Kilimanjaro. . . .it cannot be established that the recession of snows on Mt Kilimanjaro is mainly attributable to human-induced climate change.

Lake Chad etc  It is apparently considered to be far more likely to result from other factors, such as population increase and over-grazing, and regional climate variability.

Hurricane Katrina . . . is ascribed to global warming. It is common ground that there is insufficient evidence to show that.

Death of polar bears. The only scientific study that either side before me can find is one which indicates that four polar bears have recently been found drowned because of a storm.  . . .it plainly does not support Mr Gore 's Description.

Coral reefs.  The actual scientific view, as recorded in the IPCC report, is that, if the temperature were to rise by 1-3 degrees Centigrade, there would be increased coral bleaching and widespread coral mortality, unless corals could adopt or acclimatise, but that separating the impacts of climate change-related stresses from other stresses, such as over-fishing and polluting, is difficult.

Conclusion

The very foundation of the man caused global warming postulate is that CO2 causes the earth to heat up. The best evidence of this was the Antarctic ice core data which showed temperature and CO2 moving together. Most people assumed this was CO2 causing temperature change, but better analysis methods showed that the temperature rise occurred several hundred years before the CO2 rise, thus disproving CO2 as the cause of that rise. Absent the ice core “proof” there does not appear to be any real proof that CO2 can actually cause dangerous warming, only models and assumptions.

Other claimed effect of climate change simply do not matter (from a cutting  CO2 standpoint) unless man’s CO2 can be shown to be the cause.
